You don’t have to be tech-savvy to publish your own email newsletter. There are many email service providers like Aweber.com that do virtually everything but create the content for you. You simply need to write good content, add it to the template, and click “send.” The software does everything for you – from making sure everyone who receives your newsletter opted-in to receive it, to handling any unsubscribe requests, to tracking how many people opened your newsletter. read full entry

Aweber.com has recently posted two great articles about how real estate agents can use email more effectively.
In Real Estate Email Tips, Pt. 1 – Don’t Do This!, Justin Premick writes about the importance of setting goals when planning your email marketing campaign. He also stresses that in order to differentiate yourself from other agents, you have to do more than just show subscribers pictures of homes. That’s what everyone else does. It always amazes me whenever I get an email response that is virtually unreadable. It seems that email has become the medium of informal communication even in business settings to people they’ve never had any type of communication with.
Often, respondents fail to use proper capitalization at the beginning of sentences and proper punctuation at the end. But occasionally I’ll receive an email response that fails to use complete sentences and I have to re-read it several times to figure out what exactly they were trying to say.

A recent eMarketer article reports that almost 80% of all spam fits into 2 categories: healthcare (ie diet pills and viagra) and finance (mortages, loans, and stock tips).
What’s interesting is that finance spam only accounted for 15.8% of spam in January 2004, but has soared to 37.8% in April. Whether this is a trend or just high volume around tax season remains to be seen.
