I received a comment today tagging me for one of the “cyber tag” games going around. The rules appear to be link back to the blog who tagged you and pick three more blogs to tag.
The comment claims that by linking to others’ websites, it improve everyone’s “PR rankings.” Honestly, that’s probably not the case (and PR doesn’t mean all that much in search engine optimization) unless:
So, for example, a prominent real estate site would link to mine like real estate marketing tips. Or, I could link to Pittsburgh Real Estate Blog with a deep link (meaning to one of the internal pages, not the home page) would be 750 real estate blogs, since they were nice enough to include a link to this blog.
(For an incredibly detailed report of what factors on your website matter when it comes to search engine optimization, check out SEOMoz’s Search Engine Ranking Factors or their less advanced Beginner’s Guide to Search Engine Optimization.)
Anyway, since I generally don’t participate in these internet linking games (because they remind me too much of those annoying email forwards of the late 90s that claim if you forward on the email Microsoft will pay you $200 or money will be donated to some poor child’s cancer fund - which were all hoaxes, of course), I’m going to ask for volunteers.
If you’d like to be tagged and would like a link from my site to yours, comment below with your site URL and the 3-5 keywords you’d like in your link. I’ll take the first three commenters (though I reserve the right to pass over you if your link looks like spam - ie a page/keywords on viagra, ringtones, porn, and the like.) You can then continue the game, or not. It’s your call.

Cool, I did not know these games made it to the real estate blogs. I do not have a real estate blog, per say, so I think I will opt not to play this round but I still would like to introduce my self and offer a little background as to where I am coming from and what I am all about…
I work for Wallhogs and we just began making Wallhogs for some realtors to use for their advertising and marketing. Is this something that would work in your industry? You’ve got my email, let me know if this is something that you’d be interested in hearing more about. I can show you some examples and explain anything that needs explaining.
Thanks,
Scott at Wallhogs

Hi Krista,
Well, since you asked, you can tag me if you would like. I recently launched my site featuring a categorized directory of real estate marketing professionals, agencies and services.
http://www.realestateremix.com
Real estate branding, real estate photographers, real estate design, videography, development, home staging, etc…
I would also like to invite you to add your site to my directory under news and blogs or consulting.
